Universal Old Age Pension to All Senior Citizens is our first and foremost motto, among other things. We give assistance to the senior citizens who are abused, neglected or abandoned during their old age by their own children or grandchildren or next of kin, to get legal remedies from the Maintenance Tribunal established by Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007.
SCSC is running a day care home for aged and operating a charity fund for giving pension to the bed ridden and destitute old person, giving assistive devices and medical aid to the poor old persons along with several welfare activities for the old people then and there.
Silver Foundation is another wing functioning for the infrastructural development of Senior Citizens Service Council (SCSC).
SCSC is conducting language, yoga and dhyana classes for the aged people as it is a tool for delaying the memory loss, alzheimers disease etc.
'Sahiti Sallapam' is literary flock of the senior citizens functioning as the art and literary wing of our organization.
A Senior Citizens Club is also functioning under the organization. The club is arranging an annual all India tour and a few local tours in and around Kerala every year for our members. It will celebrate important festivals such as Onam, New year, Gandhi Jayanthi, Republic Day Independence Day etc.
A Senior Women's Council is also functioning as part of SCSC for giving special attention to the problems of the aged women and it's redrassel.
Last Monday of each month a gathering is organized and speech on various subjects relevant for the elders such as medical, legal, social, political etc. will be performed by a scholar in that subject.
Two Cooperative societies are also functioning to give economic support and engagement to the elderly. They are Senior Citizens Welfare Cooperative Society and Citizens Labour Force Development Cooperative Society.
Advocacy for the elderly people is our main activity. Highlighting the problems and rights of senior citizens before the civil society and brought to the notice of the State and Union Government by way of resolutions memorandum charter of demands etc. for its redressal. As a last resort to get the grievances of the elders redressed, we arrange protest rallies, dharna etc. before the authorities/government.
We are publishing a magazine named Shanthiparvam in our regional language malayalam, which is our official organ for focusing the issues, problems etc. of senior citizens and seeking remedial actions to be taken by the State and Union Government and the civil society. There are a good number of subscribers for magazine all over Kerala.
We used to observe the International Day of Older Persons on October 1st and Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15th every year giving utmost importance to the theme declared by United Nations.
